Cargolux Airlines International, SA

Objective
Cargolux was looking for a way to upgrade their enterprise-wide application suite and increase the productivity of their end users, while cutting IT support costs. This objective needed to be met in a very short-time frame.
Solution
Instead of purchasing an expensive packaged solution, Arran Technologies web-enabled their existing application and leveraged all the existing business logic from their legacy application. This allowed Cargolux to access their existing application suite from a browser, which eliminated the cost of emulation software on each desktop and decreased their PC support costs. By leveraging the existing business logic, our client avoided a complete rewrite of the application, which saved both time and money.
Outcome
Arran Technologies was able to web-enable the client's application suite and met the customer’s expectations as far as quality, schedule and cost. By converting the application suite to a common graphical user interface, the end users experienced a gain in productivity and a decrease in the cost of training new employees. Cargolux also realized a savings in desktop software and support costs.

Minnesota Secretary of State

Objective
The Office of the Secretary of State had purchased a statewide business filing and workflow solution, but needed assistance in implementing the application and customizing new features and enhancements. To date, four other vendors had already failed in this capacity, but Arran Technologies was ready to take on the challenge.
Solution
Arran Technologies brought in a team of developers, business analysts and database experts to assess the current status of the application development project and to begin the stabilization process. A new development methodology and a formal software release process was implemented while a new project plan was being developed.
Outcome
Arran Technologies successfully implemented seven feature rich monthly releases of the application. The total number of enhancements and issues resolved was in excess of two hundred. Arran Technologies also assisted in transferring the technical and application knowledge to the existing technical staff, which will allow them to be self sufficient in supporting and enhancing the application in the future.

The Valspar Corporation

Objective
Valspar was in the middle of a costly ERP implementation and the cost of maintaining two environments was becoming quite cumbersome. Valspar looked to Arran’s expertise for suggestions that would quickly lower their overall IT costs.
Solution
Arran Technologies suggested that Valspar downsize its legacy application from the mainframe environment to a Unix-based platform. This new solution was much more complementary with Valspar’s future direction and was much more cost effective.
Outcome
Arran Technologies successfully downsized Valspar’s MAPPER and COBOL legacy application and converted their data onto a SCO-UNIX server. Valspar began realizing the decrease in support, maintenance and licensing costs immediately.
